Hrafnar (the Ravens) was founded in 1988. We practice the native religion of the Germanic peoples (Asatru) and Norse shamanic skills such as oracular seidh. Our activities focus on honoring the gods and making available the kinds of services traditionally performed by the Thul or Völva to the pagan community. Our practice is based on scholarship interpreted in the light of inspiration and experience. Hrafnar welcomes all who feel a spiritual affinity for the religious tradition of Northern Europe. We believe those whom the gods have called to this path are our kin, regardless of gender, ethnic origin or sexual orientation. Participation does not require formal membership, nor does it exclude involvement in other organizations. Hrafnar is affiliated with the Fellowship of the Spiral Path (an association of pagan circles in the San Francisco Bay Area) and is a garth of the Troth, an international Asatru organization. For more information on the Troth, check out its website at http://www.thetroth.org
Hrafnar, directed by the Gyðja, Diana L. Paxson, is the center of a constellation of heathen activities and groups, functioning as an open kindred for the heathen communities of the San Francisco Bay Area in California. The main group is open to all and meets on the second Wednesday of each month in Berkeley.
